Like the rest of the country, Pittsburghers were captivated by the pithy sarcasm on House, and became addicted by the third episode. And despite moving performances (like that opposite Tupac in 1992’s Juice), Pittsburghers only like Omar Epps for one reason—he looks like Mike Tomlin.
Pittsburghers didn’t even know Epps’s name before Tomlin arrived and are still confused between the two. In fact, when the Steelers announced Tomlin as head coach replacement in a televised press conference, Pittsburghers thought “Hey, I didn’t know that black guy from Hahs, M.D. could coach football.” However, he does know a thing or two about Love and Basketball.
Since then, Pittsburghers watched Scream 2 and Major League 2, and caught up on old episodes of ER. Now, Pittsburghers like to claim that they were always familiar with Epp’s acting chops, and often give him verbal accolades for achievements outside of winning Super Bowl XLIII (which may or may not be his accomplishment).
